The Tampa Bay Rays (45-47) and the New York Yankees (56-38) will play the final game of their 3-game series tonight at Tropicana Field. The Rays took game one 5-3 and used s big 3-run blast from Isaac Paredes in the 1st inning to give them a 4-1 lead that they never relinquished. Game two went to the Yankees last night in a game that featured just 3 runs. Both Marcus Stroman of the Yankees and Zach Eflin of the Rays combined for 11.1 innings of work and allowed just 2 earned runs and struck out 8. Trent Grisham was responsible for knocking in the 2 runs that gave the Yankees the 2-1 victory. Here in game three, Nestor Cortes (4-7, 3.41) will face Shane Baz (0-1, 4.50). Cortes is coming off a good outing in his last start. He faced the Red Sox and held them to just 1 run on 3 hits while striking out 8. Baz will be making just his 2nd start of the season for the Rays. He went 6 innings in his season debut last week against the Rangers. Baz allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and picked up the loss.

The Yankees seemingly have the advantage in the pitching matchup with Cortes having the experience and a decent ERA. Baz is only making his 2nd start and was about average in his debut. Offensively, the Yankees are far and away better than the Rays statistically. However, with all those factors being in the favor of this Yankee team, they are only a short favorite in this matchup. The fact that they are also struggling when being the favorite over the last 12 games makes us lean towards taking the Rays here.
