Will the Yankees return to the postseason this year?

Fighting to keep their postseason hopes alive, the New York Yankees go to Missouri to take on the St. Louis Cardinals in a three-game series starting on Friday at Busch Stadium.

After two productive nights behind the plate, the Yankees’ offense went missing in the series finale against the Minnesota Twins. Code Bellinger drove in the lone run for the Yankees, belting a 396-foot home run in the third inning of a 1-4 loss to Minnesota on Thursday. The Yankees’ pitching (3.40 ERA) and batting (4.7 runs per game) metrics over the last five games are decent. There are just times when they don’t seem to know how to close out ballgames with the right relief pitchers.

The Cardinals suffered back-to-back losses to the Colorado Rockies, including a narrow 5-6 loss in the series finale. At 61-61, St. Louis may not have much time to make a run for a playoff spot. Still, expect this team to play its best every night to create a winning culture for this rebuilding club.
