The New York Yankees will face the Giants at Oracle Park in San Francisco, CA, this afternoon at 4:35 p.m. EST with coverage provided by ESPN Unlimited and MLB TV.
New York and San Francisco opened the 2026 MLB season when they faced off Wednesday night at Oracle Park. It was not a pretty night for the home team, as the lineup only generated three hits and never got close to scoring a run. Giants starter Logan Webb was chased after giving up nine hits and six earned runs in five innings. As for the Yankees, New York got the scoring started in the second inning when the lineup tagged Webb for five runs, giving the Yankees an early 5-0 lead. They added two more in the fifth to close out the scoring, making the final 7-0 for the Giants. Max Fried went 6 1/3 innings, gave up two hits, no runs, and struck out four.
Much to the disappointment of fans everywhere, no home runs were hit in the season opener. Yankees slugger Aaron Judge was a massive disappointment, going 0-5 and striking out four times. Giancarlo Stanton had a solid day, going 2-4 with a run and an RBI.

Our San Francisco Giants vs New York Yankees Prediction
After the hitting display the Yankees put on in the opener, it is easy to just get behind the Bronx Bombers without thinking about it too much. Cam Schlittler is scheduled to take the mound for New York (4-3, 2.96 ERA in 2025) while Robbie Ray (11-8, 3.65 ERA in 2025) will do so for San Francisco. We don’t have much to go on this season just yet. But because of the hitting display in the opener and Schlittler having pitched well last season in limited action, I’ve got to go with the Yankees.
