The New York Yankees (46-21) will put their road winning streak on the line against the Kansas City Royals (39-27) on Monday at Kauffman Stadium. The Yankees have been undefeated on the road over their last five assignments, taking the last two games of their series vs. the Los Angeles Angels and sweeping the San Franciso Giants. New York continued to dominate on their return home as they completed another sweep against the Minnesota Twins. However, the Yankees’ winning run came to an end at the hands of the NL West powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers. The Yankees suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of the visiting Dodgers before pulling off a 6-4 win in the series finale to avert an embarrassing sweep in front of their home crowd. Meanwhile, the Royals saw the end of their three-game winning streak after bowing to the Seattle Mariners, 6-5, in a thrilling series finale on Sunday. Down 3-1, left fielder MJ Melendez blasted a two-run homer in the 9th inning to send the game beyond regulation. Unfortunately, the Mariners still gutted out a close win behind clutch hitting from Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez in the 10th inning.
