From August 2 to August 14, the Yankees will face three consecutive division leaders: the Astros, Tigers, and Blue Jays, as they fight for the first Wild Card or even the division lead. Finally, they will face the Red Sox from August 12 to 14 at Fenway Park. This span of games will reveal what these Yankees are made of.

For now, they looked good in the first game of the series in Houston, winning 7-1, but the combative Astros took Wednesday's game 8-7 in a spectacular playoff-worthy game.

The Yankees started as -150 favorites with Warren on the mound; they took it with solo home runs by Stanton and Wells. By the middle of the game, Boone removed Warren from decent work and used the best of his bullpen to maintain the lead; all failed to do so.
