Cleveland Guardians vs New York Yankees Prediction & Picks - MLB

The Cleveland Guardians (37-31) are hosting the New York Yankees (39-26) for a 3-game set that began yesterday. Both teams currently sit atop their respective divisions and have had some solid pitching to start the year.

Game one took place last night and was more of an offensive showcase than it was a pitching duel. Both Will Warren of the Yankees and Gavin Williams of the Guardians were tagged for some early runs. Trailing 5-4 at the top of the 8th, Paul Goldschmidt grounded into a fielder’s choice to knock in Trent Grisham and tie the game. In extra innings, Cody Bellinger was the hero as he hit an RBI single to bring home Ben Rice and Ali Sanchez before David Bednar closed out the game and picked up the win for the Yankees.

Here in game two, we should see some better pitching, at least from the Yankees. Gerrit Cole will be making his 4th start of the season. He is coming off his worst start, where he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and took the loss against this Guardians team just 6 days ago. He will be opposed by Slade Cecconi, who pitched well in his last start against the Yankees. He held them to just 1 run on 4 hits over 6 innings, but did not factor into the decision.

The Yankees have the momentum from winning game one in extras last night and will have a motivated Gerrit Cole on the mound, looking to bounce back from his poor performance last week.
