The Yankees haven't quite shaken off their mid-June slump, which worsened in Cincinnati after losing another series against the Reds. The Reds took Game 1 6-1, and betting sites heavily underdogged the Reds, but they prevailed against the Yankees again, winning 5-4 in a thrilling game, where Gavin Lux hit a walk-off hit to bring home the winning run for team star Elly De La Cruz.

The Yankees' problem remained in Game 2, the same one that has plagued them throughout their slump: excessive strikeouts. Grisham, batting as a leadoff hitter, struck out three times, going 0-for-4, and Volpe went 1-for-4 with three more strikeouts. It's inevitable that some die-hard Yankees fans are calling for the head of their SS, who can't raise his average above .235. In total, the Yankees struck out 13 times; in Game 1, they struck out the same number of times.

On the other hand, the Reds are enjoying their positive record, boosted by the excellent performance of their star Elly De la Cruz, who fell a double short of the cycle last game and went 2-for-5 in Wednesday's game.
