The New York Yankees (71-50 SU, 63-58 ATS) attempt to salvage a series win in their series finale against the Chicago White Sox (29-92 SU, 52-69 ATS). The Yankees took a surprising loss in the first game of this series, and they might find the going tougher than expected in this game as well. Will Warren really hasn’t done the job well for New York this season, and the Yankees are probably going to send him right back down to Triple-A Scranton-Wilkes Barre after this game. The Yankees really just needed an arm who could get them through this spot start.
The White Sox seem to be playing a bit better for Grady Sizemore, although they were so poor before this that that hasn’t made that much of a difference. Chicago did unload on New York for 12 runs in the first game of this series, and with Warren on the mound for the Yankees, there’s a chance the White Sox get the bats going again.

Starting pitching has never been the problem for the White Sox. Their starters consistently give them a decent chance in the first few innings, and Davis Martin has been no exception so far. In two of his three appearances this season, he’s held the opponent to one run or less.
The issue for the Pale Hose is that games are nine innings long, and starters just aren’t built to go for more than six innings anymore. And it’s the final three innings that keep coming back to bite the White Sox, as the bullpen continues to allow teams to fatten their batting averages. The Yankees haven’t done much hitting so far in this series, but there’s too much power in this lineup for New York to continue its recent slump.
