It was another quiet day for the New York lineup yesterday, but they held a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom half of the seventh. They couldn’t hold it, however, as the Cubs scored three to take a 4-2 lead before taking on a fifth in the eighth.
Colin Rea is scheduled to take the mound for the Cubs to start the day. Rea is 8-7 in 22 appearances (18 starts) with a 4.67 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. But he has often had his better stuff at home, where he is 3-3 in 10 appearances (nine starts) with a 3.33 ERA and a .248 OBA.
The Yankees are going with Gerrit Cole. Cole is just 4-5 this season in 12 starts with a 3.57 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. He has gone 2-3 in six starts on the road with a 3.86 ERA and a .271 OBA.

This is a tough one to call. Rea is not a great pitcher. But with how the Yankees have been hitting lately (.205 over the last week), he should be good enough. If the Yankees lineup couldn’t wake up against Peterson yesterday, who knows what it will do today. Cole is a stud, but he hasn’t looked like one all the time this season. There is no easy call, which is why I’m passing on the total and the run line. If New York plays a well as they can, they should get the win.
