The New York Yankees (62-48, 36-25 Away) will try to regain some road momentum after losing their last two against the White Sox earlier in the week but then beating the Chicago Cubs yesterday, 2-0. But the Cubbies (62-48, 30-23 Home) have been hard to beat at Wrigley this season and will not make it easy. Fans can follow the action on MLB.TV once the game gets underway at 7:15 p.m. EST.
The Yankees lineup has not been great at the plate since the All-Star break, hitting just .200, but that is not the biggest issue they’ve had (lineup is hitting .233 this season). The bigger issue has been the lack of power. Since the break, they’ve recorded just 13 home runs (14 games). For a team that is somewhat reliant on power, that can be devastating.
Chicago has been one of the better hitting teams since the break, going .276 with 80 runs scored in 14 games. But like yesterday, the Cubbies lineup will not have an easy time making contact.
