The New York Yankees will go for a 2-0 series lead in the resumption of their three-game series with the Chicago Cubs on Saturday at Wrigley Field. The Yankees drew first blood in their crucial three-game series with the Cubs behind another terrific offensive night from Aaron Judge. The leading American League MVP contender delivered an RBI double, and then a few plays later, scored on Austin Well’s two-run singles to put the Yankees up 3-0 in the third. Luiz Gil also posted strong numbers from the mound in his first game from a back injury, conceding zero runs with seven strikeouts in seven innings. With the victory, New York (81-60) has prevented the Baltimore Orioles (82-60) from earning a full-game lead over them in the AL East standings. The Cubs remain at No.2 in the National League Central behind the Milwaukee Brewers (81-60), but that one loss could make a big difference down the road for Chicago, who are currently five games out of the wild-card playoff picture.
