The truth is that, even amid the pressure and even though they're unlikely to win the division, the Yankees have had a phenomenal September, after winning their fourth series of the month against the Twins. They also got off to a great start in their four-game series at Camden Yards against the O's.

After recovering and showing impeccable form in at least his last six outings, Max Fried pitched another gem in Game 1 against the O's, one so good it might just earn him a few AL Cy Young votes. The Yankees' ace left-hander remains the MLB leader in wins, now earning his 18th of the season. He completely dominated the Orioles' lineup, pitching seven scoreless innings while striking out 13.

Hitting-wise, the Yankees strangely won 7-0 without hitting a single home run; Stanton hit his seventh double late in the game, and Amed Rosario also drove in two runs with a leadoff double.
