The Orioles simply can't find a starter capable of recording the first nine outs of a game without allowing a hundred runs. Kyle Gibson was given the opportunity, hoping he would succeed and be added to the roster the day before the game against the Yankees. However, he couldn't reverse the trend, and the Yankees opened the game with three solo home runs by Grisham, Judge, and Rice, and after Goldschmidt, Bellinger hit another solo home run in the first inning.

Aaron Boone's team opened the game as early as the first inning, with no possible comeback from the Orioles. The Yankees managed to get 19 hits, six of them home runs, and won by a 15-3 rout.

Venezuelan starter Carlos Carrasco will pitch for the Yankees in Game 2. In it, the Yankees found an experienced starter capable of almost always navigating the first five innings. He did just that, without allowing a run in his last game against the Blue Jays.

A pitcher like Carrasco is exactly what the Orioles desperately need, but at least for them, Povich will be pitching, having had his first solid start of the season against the Nats in DC.
