The Los Angeles Kings (19-16-13, 7-10-7 Home) will try to end their slide Tuesday night, January 20, when they host the New York Rangers (21-22-6, 16-9-2 Away). The puck drops at 10 p.m. EST at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
With Saturday’s 2-1 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks, the Kings’ losing streak reached four in a row; it was also their sixth loss in their last seven games. However, the losing streak could have easily gone the other way. Four of the six losses were in overtime or via shootout. As for the one win (January 10 vs. Edmonton), it was via a shootout (4-3). So, one or two plays go their way in each of those games, and they could be 5-2 in their last seven rather than 1-6. As for New York, the Rangers last played on Saturday and won, beating the Flyers 6-3 in Philadelphia. But prior to that game, they had lost five in a row and eight of their last nine. They were only competitive in two of them, losing by a goal in overtime to Carolina (3-2 on December 29) and to Utah in overtime (3-2). In the other six games, they were outscored 35-12 and got shut out once.
