The young Nationals have a 12-14 record, not a bad one considering some early-season projections. They've also been able to trip up big-name teams at Nationals Park, like the Orioles, who recently beat them, or the Dodgers, when they visited earlier this season.

Inevitably, the Nats are set to be built around their star CJ Abrams in the coming years. He recently returned from the disabled list and came away with a 2-for-5 Game 1 victory against the Mets, batting leadoff and scoring the walk-off run.

The Nats won the first game of the series 5-4, with the Mets being the betting favorites at -185. During the game, a curious triple play occurred, which wasn't actually a triple play, but the umpires made a mistake and ruled it as such despite Mendoza's protest.

The Mets led 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth inning, and Mendoza gave the ball not to Díaz but to Stanek to close out the game. He couldn't do so, as Dylan Crew, the first pitcher Stanek faced, tripled off the pitch, marking the start of a disastrous inning that ended with a Nats victory.
