St. Louis Cardinals vs New York Mets Prediction & Picks - MLB

Monday will begin the 3-game series between the New York Mets and St Louis Cardinals. The Mets are coming into this series after being swept by the Rays over the weekend. The Cardinals also lost their last series 2-1 to the lowly White Sox. This will be the 2nd series between these National League foes. They met prior for a 3-game set in late April in New York. The Cardinals won 2 of the 3 after they failed to complete the sweep in the final game. Brendan Donovan was the catalyst for the Cards in the previous series. He went 4-13 with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles. Oddly, for the Mets, it was the fill-in 3rd baseman, Mark Vientos who was a spark for them. He finished 3-4 with a homerun in his 2 games started. To start this series, the Mets will toss Sean Manaea (1-1, 3.07) while the Cards will look to Kyle Gibson (2-2, 3.79). Manaea is coming off a 5-inning outing against the Cubs where he did not factor into the decision after allowing just 1 run. Concerning were the 4 walks he allowed to just 3 strikeouts. Gibson also pitch to a no-decision in his last start. He went 7 strong innings against the Tigers and finished with 9 Ks to just 2 walks and allowed 1 run on 4 hits. That marked his 3rd straight start of allowing just 1 run.
