Philadelphia Phillies vs New York Mets Prediction & Picks - MLB

The first game being played after the All-Star break is a lone game between bitter NL East rivals. The hosts of the All-Star Game, the Philadelphia Phillies, will now host the New York Mets to begin a 3-game series.

The city of Philadelphia is still buzzing from an incredible All-Star weekend. Kyle Schwarber fell just short of winning the home run derby while Cristopher Sanchez took the loss for the NL in the game after allowing 3 runs in his lone inning of work. The Phillies were playing mediocre as they headed into the break and will be starting Aaron Nola in this 1st game. Nola has not been the same since his latest injury and is just 3-6 on the year with a 5.75 ERA. He will likely need serious run support to contend for his 4th win of the season.

New York struggled heading into the break. They were swept in their 3-game series against Boston to finish the 1st half of the season. The bats were nearly non-existent in that series with Boston. The Mets combined to score just 4 runs over the 3 games. The lack of scoring could change in this matchup as Nola has been giving up numerous runs in the majority of his starts. That said, starter Christian Scott has had a few outings lately where he has given up his fair share as well.
