Aaron Nola had a prime-back-then outing when he pitched six scoreless innings, striking out seven, in the electrifying Phillies-Mets series on Monday, with Citizens Bank Park packing up to 40,000 fans on a Monday.

The series opener, which ended any chance the Mets had of the Phillies' division lead, was a true pitching duel. The Mets' two-way player, Nola McLean, performed admirably, holding off the Phillies, but Castellano's RBI single, which drove in Kepler, proved to be the game's only run.

For the Phillies, closer Durán got the final three outs, with drama, allowing a hit by Alonso and a double by Vientos, but he recovered in remarkable fashion, striking out McNeil and Francisco Álvarez.

The stars on both sides had a quiet night at the plate; Harper went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts, and Schwarber went 0-for-3, but Bader went 3-for-4. For the Mets, Lindor went 0-for-3 with one strikeout; the same was true for Soto. Only Alonso had two hits for the Mets.
