The Miami Marlins (23-29, 16-15 Home) will try to make it two in a row today when they host the New York Mets (22-29, 11-16 Away) in the second game of a three-game weekend series. First Pitch at loanDepot park is scheduled for 4:10 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.
Miami was coming off a rough series vs. the Atlanta Braves and, heading into Friday night’s game, had lost three in a row by a combined score of 26-8. With last night’s 2-1 victory over the Mets, they moved back above .500 at home, 16-15.
The Marlins will look to Max Meyer to take care of business on the mound to start the day. Meyer has gone 4-0 in ten starts this season with a 2.85 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP. In his four May starts, he has gone 3-0 with a 2.28 ERA, with two of those wins coming at home. In six home starts, he has allowed just eight runs and a single home run.
Freddy Peralta is scheduled to get the start for the Mets. Peralta has gone 3-3 in ten starts with a 3.31 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. He has done some of his best work on the road this season, going 1-1 in three road starts with a 2.25 ERA and .172 OBA.

This is a tough one to pick. New York has been hitting a little better over the last week at .257 and recording six runs per game in that span (seven games). Miami isn’t too far behind, hitting .248 and scoring five runs per game over the last week. Both pitchers have looked good this month and have decent bullpens backing them up. With no obvious difference between the two, I have to go with the team that has home-field advantage in a close game.
