It is a divisional series battle to start the 2nd half of the season for the New York Mets (49-47) and the Miami Marlins (34-63). In game one, the Marlins jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 3rd as they got to Sean Manaea early. The Mets battled back to get it to 5-4 as they headed into the 8th but Nick Fortes hit an RBI single and Tanner Scott was able to close things out for the Marlins. Jeff McNeil did all he could in the loss for the Mets. He went 3-4 with 2 home runs and 3 RBIs. Game two will feature Luis Severino (6-3, 3.78) for the Mets getting the start. And Roddery Munoz (1-4, 5.47) of the Marlins. Severino bounced back after allowing 7 runs to the Pirates by holding the Nationals to 2 runs in his last start before the break. Munoz has been plugging along in his last 4 starts. He allowed 2 runs in 2 games while allowing 4 in the other 2. He also did the same in terms of batters walked. He will need more command in this game for the fish. A win for Miami would give them a 3-game win streak and send the Mets on a 3-game losing streak.
