The New York Mets (49-46 SU, 47-48 ATS) look to get back on track as they start a three-game series with the Miami Marlins (33-63 SU, 42-54 ATS). Gradually, the Mets have climbed back into the postseason race during the summer, as they’ve won at a .675 clip during June and July. Prior to the end of their series with Colorado, they had won seven of their past eight games.
They open a series with Miami, which has made things harder than they should have been for the Mets this year. Miami has a .500 record against New York, one of just four NL teams (St. Louis, Colorado and Arizona) that the Marlins don’t have a losing record against. Beating Miami has required power, as the Marlins pitch well and hit the ball well enough but don’t score many runs because they’re singles hitters above all else.
