The Kansas City Royals will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today after losing 8-3 to the New York Mets in the first game of their weekend series yesterday. Game Two will get underway at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, MO, at 4:10 p.m. EST.
Kansas City fell behind early yesterday when the Mets got on the board first with a run in the top of the third. But they were able to counter with a run in the bottom of the sixth and took the lead with two more in the seventh. However, the lead would not last as the Mets tacked on three in the eighth and ended the scoring with four more in the ninth. The Royals will turn to Michael Lorenzen to start the day on the mound. Lorenzen is 5-8 in 18 starts with a 4.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP. He has been at his best at home, where he is 2-3 in six starts with a 3.79 ERA and .259 OBA. As for the Mets, they are scheduled to go with Frankie Montas. Montas has only pitched in three games this season (he is 1-1). compiling an ERA of 6.14 in the process and a WHIP of 1.30.

Neither team is doing a great job of hitting the ball over the last week, but they aren’t doing a bad job of it either (Royals-- .265 and Mets-- .241). However, the Mets have done more with the offense they’ve generated, scoring 35 runs over their last six games to 25 for the Royals. I’m on the fence between going with the OVER (because Montas is struggling and Lorenzen has given up some runs in his last three home starts) or the KC ML. When I’m on the fence, I go with the market that results in a bigger win for me.
