After losing 17 of their last 20 games, the Mets have embarked on a long road trip. This journey could finally be the turning point where things start going their way.
On this nine-game road trip, the Mets have started with a 3-1 record, and they have Mark Vientos to thank for a lot. The Dominican-Nicaraguan third baseman hit two two-run homers in the Mets' 5-1 victory against the Angels and continued driving in runs on Monday at Coors Field in the 4-2 win over the Rockies.
The Rockies were ironically one of the teams that, by sweeping them at Citi Field, could have most exacerbated the Mets' losing streak, but they have lost 6 of their last 7 games since then. Japanese pitcher Sugano took the mound on Monday and was doing well but imploded in the sixth inning, where all of the Mets' runs came in. Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4, is now batting .327, and is one of the hottest players in MLB, but even that doesn't seem to be stopping the Rockies' losses.
