After ending an NBA-record 15-game postseason losing streak with a win in Game 2 in New York, the Pistons will try to make it two in a row when they face the New York Knicks in Game 3 of the series in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST with coverage available on TNT.
Detroit’s win in Game 2 ended a 17-year stretch that saw the Pistons lose a record-setting 15 consecutive playoff games. Josh Hart tied the game up at 94-94 with a dunk with 1:15 left, but Dennis Schroder followed with a three-pointer with 55 seconds left to give the Pistons the lead for good. Cade Cunningham led the way for the Pistons with 33 points and 12 rebounds. New York did not play poorly in Game 2. But they just weren’t able to crack the Pistons' defense long enough to go on a run. However, while Detroit will have the benefit of playing in front of a home crowd, the Knicks were a solid road team, going 20-8 outright when they were the road favorite. But the Pistons just won their first postseason game in 17-18 years.
Momentum can be a dangerous thing, and it is certainly on the side of the home team Pistons.
