The Vegas Golden Knights aim to break a three-game losing streak on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena against the New York Islanders.
Vegas didn't suffer its first regulation defeat until Oct. 25, but the team has had a very difficult time since then. The 2023 Stanley Cup champions have gone 2-4-2 over their last eight outings, scoring two or fewer goals five times during that stretch.
With No. 1 goaltender Adin Hill on the shelf due to a lower-body injury, the Golden Knights are also struggling defensively. Head coach Bruce Cassidy needs to find a way to reverse the team's fortunes quickly; otherwise, they will have to play catch-up in the postseason race for the remainder of the season.
The Islanders head to Sin City in search of their third consecutive victory. Goaltender Ilya Sorokin has finally returned to form, allowing only two goals over the past two games, providing the team with a strong foundation. On Thursday, Sorokin will try to record his first three-game winning streak of the season.
Due to Sorokin's struggles, the Islanders have been quite fragile defensively this season, allowing 3.19 goals per game. However, Patrick Roy's team has impressed with a collective effort on the offensive end, as only eight teams boast a better goals-for average than the Islanders' 3.31.
