The New Orleans Saints will try to end their five-game losing streak when they travel to the West Coast to face the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium as part of the Week 8 NFL slate. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on FOX.
Two weeks into the season, the Saints looked like they could be the team to beat. But then the struggle got real against the Eagles (a 15-12 loss), got worse against the Falcons (a 26-24 loss), and they never had a chance against the Chiefs (a 26-13 loss). Then Derek Carr got hurt, and things went from bad to worse. With rookie Spencer Rattler under center, the offense has practically disappeared, making it even harder for the defense to keep the opposition in check (which they have not).
However, the Chargers have struggled to find an identity on offense. They focused on running the ball to start the season despite having one of the best young quarterbacks in the league. That didn't matter against poor teams like the Raiders and Panthers, but it did against the Steelers and Chiefs. But Jim Harbaugh finally unleashed Justin Herbert in the last two weeks (1-1). Will he do it again in Week 8?

Even if the Saints were to get Derek Carr back, the outlook for the Saints is not a good one. Justin Herbert and the Chargers' passing game is starting to come alive and could blow up against the Saints' defense (last in total defense, No. 26 in scoring). The New Orleans offense was struggling before Carr got hurt and will continue to do so against a solid Chargers defense, even with Nick Bosa limited. As long as Harbaugh embraces the passing game, Los Angeles will have no problem covering the spread.
