Memphis had lost its first four preseason games before salvaging a 141-125 win over Miami in the finale. Ja Morant is listed as a game-time decision for this game, while his backup, Scottie Pippen Jr, will be out for at least 12 weeks after suffering a toe injury. The good news is Jarren Jackson Jr. could suit up for opening night after spending the offseason rehabilitating his turf toe injury. However, expect the Grizzlies coaching staff to put a cap on his playing time to prevent him from suffering any setback.
The Pelicans went 2-2 in their preseason games, securing wins against Melbourne before dropping two competitive games against Houston, 128-130, and Orlando, 125-132. Zion Williamson has looked good in the preseason, showing off his explosiveness with his slimmer body frame.
