The Detroit Pistons (39-32, 18-16 home) will go for win No. 40 on the year when they host the New Orleans Pelicans (19-52, 7-29 away) at the Little Caesars Arena in the Motor City Sunday afternoon, March 23, at 3 p.m. ET. Detroit has not won 40 games since winning 41 back in the 2018-19 season.
These two teams just played last Monday in New Orleans, a record-setting game for the Pistons that saw them win by 46 points, 127-81 (second largest victory in franchise history). Cade Cunningham led the way with 24 points, eight assists, and four rebounds, but the starting five only scored 59 points. The bench recorded 68 points, with four players scoring in double digits. Zion Williamson had 30 for the Pelicans, more than the rest of the starting four combined. C.J. McCollum had three after going 1-15 from the field. The Pelicans followed that game with a win, then a loss on the road vs. Minnesota. Detroit finished the road trip with a 116-113 win over the Heat in Miami and a 123-117 loss to the Mavericks in Dallas on Friday before returning home for a three-game homestand starting with a Sunday afternoon rematch with the Pelicans.
