Germany (5-1) takes on Netherlands (2-4) for a FIBA World Cup Qualifying game on Thursday, August 27, at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.
These two teams are facing each other in an official FIBA match for the first time since 2016. Germany dominated that game by 31 points, with Johannes Voigtmann and Daniel Theis leading the way.
The landscape has changed for the two teams since then, but Germany is still the stronger team on paper. They're parading a lineup spearheaded by longtime star guard Dennis Schroder. Isaac Bonga and Tristan da Silva are expected to take on bigger roles, too.
Germany is also riding good momentum right now, having won the DBB Supercup championship. They beat Croatia, 96-87, boosted by Oscar da Silva's 22 points. Maodo Lo chipped in 19 markers, while Schroder contributed a double-double of 10 points and 10 assists.
As for the Dutch, they're in real danger of getting eliminated from World Cup contention. They've lost back-to-back games, including a 92-84 defeat at the hands of Poland.
Netherlands could still make a fight out of this, if they can take away Germany's rhythm early. On offense, they are relying on a pair of big games from top scorers Keye van der Vuurst and Yannick Franke.

Our Germany vs Netherlands Prediction
Germany heads into this game with stronger personnel than Netherlands, but they're missing several of their key pieces. Daniel Theis, Andreas Obst, Franz Wagner, and Moritz Wagner are not suiting up on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Netherlands will be very desperate to keep their World Cup hopes alive. Germany is the favorites, but don't count out the Dutch just yet. Our prediction for the Germany vs Netherlands match is: Netherlands (+26.5) cover the spread.
