Two teams that began the new Liga MX season with defeats lock horns at the Estadio Victoria on Friday night, as Necaxa host Queretaro in a key Apertura matchup. After finishing fifth in last season's Clausura and coming into the new campaign with high expectations, Necaxa will have been bitterly disappointed by their performance during the loss to Toluca on Matchday One. Despite taking an early lead thanks to Pavel Perez, Necaxa struggled to impose themselves on the game and could have no complaints about their eventual 3-1 loss.
As for Queretaro, their lack of attacking quality was clear to see in their opening day defeat to Tijuana. Benjamin Mora's side registered just two shots on target and rarely troubled the Tijuana backline. It's early days in the Apertura, but Mora will swiftly need to improve his team's attacking output if Queretaro are to improve on last season's tenth place finish.
