The Washington Capitals will seek revenge against the Nashville Predators on Thursday at Capital One Arena.
The two teams met in Nashville three weeks ago, with the hosts celebrating a 3-2 victory. Predators captain Roman Josi factored in all of his team’s goals, registering two assists and scoring the game-winning goal on the power play.
Josi has produced several impressive performances recently, and it’s no surprise that it’s led the Predators to some big results. Soon after defeating the Capitals, Andrew Brunette’s side beat the league-leading Colorado Avalanche. Last week, the Predators came away with a 4-3 victory from a tough road game against the New York Islanders.
The Capitals have been reeling since December, but they did notch their third straight win earlier this week against the Islanders. Their streak ended on Tuesday night when the Philadelphia Flyers scored a couple of late goals to hand Washington a 4-2 loss.
With both of their primary netminder nursing injuries, the Capitals have been in a difficult spot. Clay Stevenson has started each of the last three games, making his first career NHL appearances. On Thursday, the team expects to have its No. 1 option, Logan Thompson, back between the sticks.
