The New York Islanders (30-19-5, 15-9-2 Home) will try to keep the good times rolling Saturday night when they host the Nashville Predators (24-23-6, 10-11-4 Away) at UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. Fans can follow the action once the puck drops at 7 p.m. EST, with coverage provided by ESPN+.
Islanders fans will likely feel pretty good about their team heading into this contest after the week the team had. It started with a shutout win over the Flyers in Philadelphia, 4-0, on Monday before a home win over the New York Rangers on Wednesday, 5-2. They followed that win with another victory against the Rangers on the road at Madison Square Garden, 2-1. Nashville fans may be feeling a little differently about their Predators. With a 3-2 overtime loss to the New Jersey Devils, they have lost three in a row and five of their last six games.
This will be the second of two meetings between the Predators and Islanders this season. Nashville won the first meeting, 2-1 in a shootout, a few weeks ago (January 8). New York is currently in third place in the Eastern Conference’s Metropolitan Division with 65 points, while the Predators are in fifth place in the Western Conference’s Central Division with 54 points.

The Predators are a good team and certainly capable of making this a competitive game. But they haven’t been playing well of late, and I don’t know that I trust them to show up on the road. New York, however, has been playing solid hockey. They are more consistent than Nashville and play better defense. They’ll win the game, but I wouldn’t count on them to cover.
