Sebastian Korda of the United States will vie for a place in the round-of-16 as he squares off against Jaume Munar Clar of Spain on Monday at the 2025 Rome Masters.
Korda won his opening match for the third straight tournament, sweeping Aleksandar Vukic of Australia 6-3 6-4. Korda, who also won his first match at Monte Carlo and Madrid before bowing out in the next round, hopes he can muster enough strength to get past Munar and secure her first round-of-16 appearance in a clay-court tournament this year.
Munar pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the tournament on Saturday when he eliminated Ben Shelton 6-2 6-1 in the second-round. Less than 48 hours after escaping Tomas Barrios Vera of Chile 4-6 6-2 7-5, Munar delivered a near flawless game as he bombarded the Munich Open runner-up with 24 first-serve points and denied him a service break the entire match. The win sent Munar to the third round of the Rome Masters for the first time in his career.
