Sunday is a huge day for African football. In Rabat, Morocco, in front of what should be more than 60,000 supporters at Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, the African Cup of Nations will begin. Opening the show will be tournament hosts Morocco and Comoros. Fancied by many to go all the way on home soil, the Moroccans will be hoping to kick things off with a convincing win, and if the early betting market is anything like accurate, then a win for the hosts seems highly likely.
Now is very much the time for the Moroccans, who have some fantastic players to call on at present. Can the likes of PSG's Achraf Hakimi, who earlier this year won the UEFA Champions League, help the Atlas Lions to roar so loud that they win this tournament for the first time since 1976? We'll soon find out. Beating a Comoros team that arrives out of form will be the first step to glory.

Morocco - Comoros: Form Analysis
In recent times, we've seen what the Moroccans are all about. Under the stewardship of Walid Regragui, the Atlas Lions are very hard to beat, there can be no denying that. We're talking about a team that has lost none of its last 17 games. Earlier in December, in preparation for this tournament, the Atlas Lions beat Comoros by a convincing three goals to one, and they've since gone on to record three wins and two draws, delivering those results without some of their best players, all of whom are now raring to go.
For the first of those visiting Morocco for this tournament, things haven't gone so well of late. The Comoros boys were outclassed when facing Morocco less than three weeks ago, and they've not exactly stepped on the gas since then, losing to both Saudi Arabia and Oman in preparation for this tournament. Can they improve on the biggest stage? I doubt it.

Morocco & Comoros Squad Analysis
Personnel wise, the tournament hosts look set to field a strong team that includes the likes of Achraf Hakimi, Abde Ezzalzouli and Brahim Diaz, all of whom play for top European clubs. Manchester United's Noussair Mazraoui and Marseille's Nayef Aguerd are also expected to start for the Atlas Lions. Hamza Igamane is an injury doubt ahead of the first game, though he wasn't expected to start even if fit, while the same can be said for Sofyan Amrabat.
Comoros' head coach Stefano Cusin shoud be free to name his best starting XI ahead of Sunday's game at Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, with no players currently injured. Zaid Amir and Yannis Kari, who recently impressed after being added to the squad, could be involved, while Rafiki Said, who plays his club football for Belgian outfit St. Liege, is likely to start up top.

Our Morocco vs Comoros Prediction
In recent weeks, Abde Ezzalzouli has performed like a hungry player, getting himself into lots of promising shooting positions, thanks largely to his pace and silky dribbling. Against a Comoros team that lacks top-tier quality, the LaLiga winger/forward will surely be looking to start the tournament with a bang. Let's face it, Ezzalzouli shoots a lot, and he's not exactly a player that doesn't score goals, notching three goals in his last eight starts for Betis.
We know that the Moroccans are going to dominate this game, and if they can get Ezzalzouli on the ball plenty, for my money, he's a little more likely to do some damage than odds of +255 would suggest. Put it this way, if Brahim Diaz is +155 to score, then Abde Ezzalzouli should be shorter.
Our Morocco vs Comoros Pick: Abde Ezzalzouli to Score.
