CF Montreal looks to build off its draw with Columbus when it hosts Toronto FC. Montreal’s scoring hasn’t been much to write home about this season, but they are picking things up slightly. They’ve now scored in three consecutive MLS matches and four overall, albeit only once in each MLS match.
That said, Montreal has a serious problem with goals coming late, and it was probably lucky to get a point out of hosting Columbus. Impact only got four shots on goal to Columbus’ 14, but the defense did enough to keep the Crew at bay over the final 25 minutes. Still, that was the second time in three matches that Montreal allowed a marker in the final half-hour. It cost them in their previous game, as they got nothing out of their match with Philadelphia Union when Union struck six minutes from time.

Our CF Montreal vs Toronto FC Prediction
Historically, these teams have played more fast-paced matches, but that doesn’t seem to be where Toronto is right now. The Reds aren’t attacking the way they used to, which is why they’ve lost three of their past four in MLS play. They have been good value in taking a goal home with them, as they’ve found the net in all three road matches.
Given how both teams are playing, it seems most likely that this match will feature defense first. Toronto doesn’t have much of an attack either, and it wouldn’t be much of a surprise to see either team slow the match down and wait for a chance to come. Montreal would represent good value in a win to nil situation, but Toronto’s tendency to score away from home makes that a risky proposition. It’s better to bank on a low-scoring match and not have to worry about the prospect of either a draw or clean sheet. Our prediction for CF Montreal vs. Toronto FC is Under 2.5 Goals.
