The Montreal Canadiens will try to slow down the Buffalo Sabres in an Atlantic Division matchup on Saturday at KeyBank Center.
Buffalo has been among the NHL’s hottest teams since December and will head out for a sixth consecutive victory on Saturday. Since Dec. 9, Lindy Ruff’s side boasts an incredible 20-3-1 record. On Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings, goaltender Alex Lyon established a new franchise record with a 10th consecutive win.
Lyon is only the eighth goalie in NHL history to win 10-plus consecutive games during his first season with a team. He has given the Sabres a safe pair of hands on the back end, allowing the team play with freedom up front.
The Sabres have become one of the most dangerous teams in the league, averaging 3.40 goals per game. They tend to be very efficient in the offensive zone, posting a 12.3 shooting percentage for the season -- the sixth best among all teams.
It’s a clash of two sharp attacks on Saturday, as Montreal is also capable of scoring goals for fun. Martin St. Louis’ side even has a slightly better offensive record than Buffalo, netting 3.43 goals a night and boasting a league-best 13.0 shooting percentage.

Our Buffalo Sabres vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction
After more than ten years of disappointing their fans, the Sabres finally have a quality squad on the ice and seem capable of beating anyone. They lead the NHL with 21 wins since Dec. 1. During that stretch, only three of their wins have come after regulation.
The Canadiens have also done well since December, winning 17 games. However, they have heavily relied on their offense, allowing 3.03 goals per game despite the hot spell. Buffalo has already won two head-to-head meetings with Montreal this month, and another win on Saturday appears likely.
Our prediction for Buffalo Sabres vs. Montreal Canadiens: Sabres to win in regulation.
