The Boston Bruins (29-20-2, 18-8-1 Home) will try to make it two in a row Saturday night when they host the Montreal Canadiens (28-16-7, 14-5-6 Away). The puck is scheduled to drop at TD Garden in Boston, MA, at 7 p.m. EST, with coverage on the NHL Network.
Boston got the New Year off to a solid start, winning seven of their first eight games in 2026 before taking a beating in Dallas at the hands of the Stars, 6-2. But with a 4-3 win over Vegas at home Thursday night, the Bruins got back on the right side of the scoreboard and hope to make it two in a row vs. Montreal. As for the Canadiens, 2026 has been a bit more challenging so far. Like the Bruins, they started 2026 with a win, 7-5 over Carolina in Raleigh. But since then, they’ve gone 6-5 with one overtime loss (3-2 vs. Washington). They last played Thursday night, a home game vs. the Sabres, and lost 4-2 (their second loss to Buffalo in the last week).
This game will be the third of four games scheduled between the Bruins and Canadiens this season. Boston won the first, 3-2 in Montreal (Nov. 15). But the Canadiens won the second, 6-2, in Boston (Dec. 23).

I expect this game to be as competitive as the first matchup (which Boston won) if not more so. The Bruins were in a rut when Montreal blew them out in the second game, but Boston has since broken out of it and has been playing well, especially at home, where they have won their last six. Neither team will cover the spread if they win, but I see home-ice advantage making a difference.
