The Colorado Avalanche can finish off the Minnesota Wild in Game 5 of their second-round matchup in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday at Ball Arena.
Minnesota received some hope in the series by winning Game 3, but Colorado has been dominant throughout the playoffs and delivered the perfect response in Game 4. The team had five different scorers in a 5-2 win, earning a 3-1 series lead.
The Avalanche have already scored 20 goals against the Wild, who have lost key players to injury at the worst time of the season. The defense has been without Jodan Brodin, while Joel Eriksson Ek’s absence has left a major void to fill up front.
Even a full-strength Wild team would struggle to match Colorado, which has recorded 62 wins since the start of the regular season. Led by Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar, the Avalanche are averaging a league-high 4.13 goals per game this postseason. At the same time, they also boast one of the best defensive records, with a 2.50 goals-against average.
Minnesota isn’t far behind in offensive production, scoring 3.80 goals per game, but its defensive level has been far worse. John Hynes has seen his team allow 3.50 goals a night, which isn’t good enough to be competitive in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Our Colorado Avalanche vs Minnesota Wild Prediction
The Avalanche rocked Hynes’ men with a 9-6 victory in the series opener, and Minnesota hasn’t recovered since. After being among the league’s top defensive teams during the regular season, their defense has leaked goals all over the place.
Colorado’s high-powered offense has dominated the second-round series and is likely to put the Wild out of their misery on home ice Wednesday night.
Our prediction for Colorado Avalanche vs. Minnesota Wild: Avalanche to win in regulation.
