A serious battle between two high-flying Western Conference teams will unfold at Allianz Field on Saturday evening, when the Loons take on the Timbers. As far as the hosts are concerned, the time is now to really cement their play-offs position, and by winning each of their last two games, that's exactly what Eric Ramsay's men appear to be doing. Having taken all three points from the Seattle Sounders, which is never easy, the Loons stepped on the gas to beat Real Salt Lake by three goals to one away from home last time out, which again, is impressive.
Impressive efforts have been few and far between for the Timbers of late, and it's fair to say that Phil Neville's men have lost their way a little. The viisitors are still in the postseason places, but they've slipped down to sixth, meaning that they have little room for error. In other words, the men who've won none of their last three league games, need to start picking up points.
