After losing the series opener to the Twins yesterday, 4-2, the Texas Rangers (35-37, 17-15 Home) will try to get back on the right side of the scoreboard today when they host Minnesota in Game 2 of a three-game series. First Pitch at Globe Life Field in Arlington, TX, is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. EST with coverage provided by MLB.TV.
The Rangers returned home Monday, hoping to get back on track after losing two of their last three vs. the Red Sox in Boston, only to fall short. Minnesota was fresh off a weekend series at home that saw them take two of three against the Cardinals.
Kumar Rocker is scheduled to get the start for Texas. Rocker has gone 2-5 in 13 starts with a 3.56 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. He is 1-4 in eight home starts with a 3.02 ERA and a .226 OBA. Rocker failed to factor into the decision in his last three starts.
As for Minnesota, the Twins are expected to give Zebby Matthews the start. Matthews is 2-4 in six starts with a 5.20 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. He was hit hard in two of his last three outings, both on the road, giving up seven runs in each.

Both teams are hitting the ball well of late, although the Twins have generated more runs (30 to 22 over the last week). But we have a pretty significant pitching discrepancy in this game. Rocker has been solid, giving up two runs in each of his last two starts. But Matthews has been struggling, giving up seven in each of his last two road starts. That is enough for me to pick the Rangers to win, but since both teams are hitting about the same, I have to pass on the run line.
