The New York Mets (8-16, 4-7 Home) will try to build of their first win in a couple of weeks today when they host the Minnesota Twins (12-12, 5-6 Away) at Citi Field in Queens, NY. First Pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EST tonight with coverage provided by MLB.TV.
New York’s losing skid finally ended yesterday at 12 consecutive games with a 3-2 win over the Twins. Clay Holmes put the Mets in a great position by holding the Twins to two runs in a solid seven inning outing. An RBI single by Mark Vientos in the 8th gave the Mets the lead and the eventual win.
The Mets will ask Christian Scott to start the day on the mound. Scott has nine starts to his name as pro, all in the 2024 season. He did not record a win, going 0-3, posted an ERA of 4.56 and a WHIP of 1.20, and held opposing batters to a .250 BA.
Minnesota is sending Joe Ryan to the mound to start the day. Ryan is 2-2 in five starts with a 3.29 ERA and a .88 WHIP. Teams are hitting only .184 off of him, but they are hitting .211 against him when he’s on the road.

He’ll face a Minnesota lineup hitting .227 this season and .212 over the last week. Joe Ryan has given up one home run this season. In 61 career at-bats vs. the Mets lineup, Ryan has held hitters to .115.
Betting on a call-up to have a good day is risky but considering how both teams are hitting (Mets have hit .239 over the last week), I’m betting on a low-scoring game.
