The Cleveland Guardians are 7-3 in their last 10 meetings with the Minnesota Twins.
Posted as -163 moneyline favorites for Sunday’s Game 3, the Guardians will send Gavin Williams to the mound to take advantage of the matchup against rookie Andrew Morris, who is set for his first career start in the majors.
Momentum:
The Minnesota Twins earned their first win in four games after edging the Cleveland Guardians, 2-1, in an 11-inning contest on Saturday. After surrendering 28 runs over the last three games, the Guardians put on a near-flawless pitching display against Minnesota, surrendering one run, two hits, and nine walks.
On the flipside, the result in Game 2 has ended the Guardians’ three-game winning streak. Cleveland did a fine job containing Minnesota’s offense by allowing two earned runs, but they did not expect that Joe Ryan and the Twins' bullpen would outpitch them in that game.
Starting Pitchers:
Twins RHP Andrew Morris (1-1, 4.96 ERA): Morris is set to make his first career start after coming off the bullpen on eight occasions this year. Taken 114th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft, Morris had spent the last four years in the minors before he got the promotion to the majors following the injury to Cody Laweryson.
Guardians RHP Gavin Williams (5-2, 3.28 ERA): For the second time in three starts, Williams surrendered at least five runs in a game. The Guardians pitcher gave up 5 earned runs and eight hits over six innings in a 3-5 loss to the Kansas City Royals on May 5. Two weeks ago, Williams yielded six runs over six innings in an 8-6 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on April 24.

Our Cleveland Guardians vs Minnesota Twins Prediction
Cleveland has dominated the head-to-head series with Minnesota, except for the last three meetings, in which the Twins took two of three.
Guardians starter Gavin Williams is searching for consistency after two horrendous outings in his last three starts. Although Williams has posted terrific numbers in his last two starts against Minnesota, surrendering one earned run over 12 innings, he will still need enough run support from the Guardians’ batting lineup to outgun the Twins’ offense that averages almost 5 runs per game.
Morris has been serviceable in a small role coming off the Twins’ bullpen this season. However, Morris’ caliber as a pitcher will be tested for the first time against the Guardians, who are averaging 4.2 runs per game. Cleveland’s offense isn’t as explosive as that of the other dynamic teams, but they can rack up runs in a flurry, especially if they can get a hot start.
Our betting prediction for the Minnesota Twins vs. the Cleveland Guardians: The Guardians will win.
