Game two of the 3-game series between the Chicago Cubs and the Minnesota Twins will take place early this afternoon at Wrigley.
In game one, the Twins used a 4-run 3rd inning to take a 3-run lead that they would use to hold on and win 5-2. The offense was mainly powered by Ryan Jeffers, who supplied a 3-run home run in that 3rd inning. Bailey Ober picked up his 7th win of the season. He finished with 7 strikeouts in 5.1 innings and held the Cubs to just 2 runs on 5 hits.
The win marked the 3rd straight win for the Twins and kept the Cubs from starting their own win streak. The Twins are currently in the wild card mix and only 3 games back of the division lead, despite having just a .500 record. On the flip side, the Cubs are 11 games over .500 and still 6 games back of their division leader, the Milwaukee Brewers.
Today, Taj Bradley will start for the Twins. Bradley is 9-3 with a 3.59 ERA and has not given up more than 2 runs in each of his last 5 starts. He will be countered by Matthew Boyd of the Cubs. Boyd has a solid 5-1 record, but carries a 4.50 ERA.
