The Minnesota Twins (63-46) are off to a hot start in the month of August. After sweeping the Chicago White Sox to kick things off, they then took game one of this current series with the Chicago Cubs (56-60) by the score of 3-0 before losing last night to them 7-3. In game one, Rookie pitcher David Festa, pitched his best game to date as he went 5 innings of shutout ball while striking out 9 and allowing just 2 hits. For the Cubs, the month has been good as well, they took 3 out of 4 against the Cardinals in the beginning of their homestand and now have an opportunity to take 2 out of 3 against these Twins today. Isaac Paredes had his best game since being acquired from the Mariners last night. He went 2-3 with a home run and 4 RBIS. Tonight, the Cubs will face Joe Ryan (7-7, 3.59) while the Twins will tangle with Javier Assad (5-3, 3.19). Ryan’s last start was 6.1 innings against the lowly White Sox where he struck out 7 and gave up 2 runs on 3 hits. Assad only went 4 innings last start but gave up just 1 run on 4 hits. His 3 walks got him in some trouble and control has been an issue this season.
