For just the 2nd time this season, the Dallas Mavericks (19-27) and Minnesota Timberwolves (28-19) will meet. It was back in mid-November when these teams met previously. In that meeting, the Timberwolves decimated the Mavericks in Minnesota, 120-96. They jumped out to a 13-point lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back. Naz Reid came off the bench to lead all scorers with 22 points in the win.
The Timberwolves were off to such a promising start in 2026 after winning their 1st 4 games, and 6 of their first 7. However, they were brought back to reality by losing their next 5 games. That losing streak did end on Monday night when they defeated the Warriors 108-83 after losing to them the night previous 111-85. In the win, 7 players scored 14 or more without any of them surpassing 18 points. A balanced attack was a recipe for success.
The Mavericks are coming off a 116-110 loss to the Lakers on Saturday that snapped a 4-game winning streak. After defeating the Jazz in back-to-back games, the Mavs then defeated the Knicks and Warriors before that loss to the Lakers. Veteran Naji Marshall has been playing solid ball for the Mavs over their last 5 games. He is averaging 18 points over that stretch, and with Anthony Davis still injured, his play has paid dividends. Cooper Flagg has continued to impress but is listed as questionable here with an ankle injury.
If Flagg is unable to go in this one, it will be difficult for Marshall and company to pick up the slack against this Minnesota team in Dallas.

Flagg was doubtful for their game against the Bucks on Sunday that was ultimately postponed due to the weather. The fact that he was upgraded to questionable gives us hope that he plays in this one. We like the Mavericks catching a good number of points here at home, where they have played well against the spread recently.
