This is the third time that the Lynx and the Mercury will face each other this season. The Lynx have won the first two games, including a dominating 88-65 victory on June 3. Napheesa Collier and Natisha Hiedeman led Minnesota with 18 points apiece in that win over Phoenix.
The Lynx have also won eight of their last nine games, including their last five games. They currently rank first in both offensive and defensive rating, establishing their status as the best team in the league right now.
Collier leads the pack with an all-around stat line of 24.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.5 blocks. She's currently the frontrunner for the Most Valuable Player award this year.
On the other hand, the Mercury are thriving by having above average offense and defense. Their win-loss slate is still the second-best in the WNBA, but they have lost two of their last three games.
It also doesn't help that the Mercury are missing key players right now. Satou Sabally, who is leading the team with 19.1 points, is nursing an ankle injury. Their second-leading scorer, Kahleah Cooper, will also miss the game due to a hamstring injury.
