by Erik Gibbs in WNBA Picks
The Atlanta Dream and Minnesota Lynx are ready to square off as both are among the top teams in the WNBA as the season heads into the final stretch. Minnesota, holding the best record (around 28-5), leads the league. They are pace-setting, having lost only a handful of games all year. Their roster is deep: Napheesa Collier (power forward) and Kayla McBride (shooting guard) are both All-Stars. Collier is an interior scorer and rebounder, while McBride is a perimeter shooter.
Another major key is point guard Courtney Williams, whose speed and scoring (tying up a team best in points lately) extends defenses. The Lynx shoot balanced baskets and are at or near the best in both offensive and defensive ratings, as one might expect in terms of how their star players contribute. Minnesota has kept winning in recent contests; for instance, they are still unbeaten versus Atlanta this season.
The Dream have also had an excellent year, ranked around second in the power charts with a record like 22-12. They too boast multiple All-Stars: veteran guard Allisha Gray (average ~18.6 PPG) and Rhyne Howard (shooting guard, ~16.4 PPG) lead the scoring, and center Brionna Jones anchors the paint. Naz Hillmon (forward) contributes solidly as well.
Atlanta had a strong second half stretch, going 9-3 since the All-Star break, including narrow losses to top teams, indicating they are ready for playoff contention. Their style is fast-paced with a lot of scoring punch and recent games suggest the Dream’s offense can keep up with high-scoring teams, though their defense is slightly less stingy than Minnesota’s.

Our Minnesota Lynx vs Atlanta Dream Prediction
Atlanta relies heavily on Gray’s scoring and Howard’s athleticism. Gray is having a career-best campaign and takes many of the big shots, while Howard brings slashing drives and also creates open looks. On the Lynx, Collier and McBride do most of the damage.
Collier’s inside-out skill set and McBride’s perimeter shooting have carried them all year. Williams’ speed and assists have been crucial in third quarters to break games open. In this matchup, expect Atlanta to try to use home court to set a fast tempo and rely on their potent guards, while Minnesota will counter with disciplined execution and their stars hitting when it counts.
The prediction is a close contest: perhaps a single-possession game down the stretch. If Minnesota’s stars shoot well, they should pull through. If Atlanta’s offensive stars carry them at key moments, the Dream could stun the top seed. The likely outcome is a narrow Lynx win, but it could realistically swing either way given the high level of talent on both sides. Our prediction for Atlanta Dream vs Minnesota Lynx: Under 160.5 points.
