The New Orleans Pelicans (15-41) will play hosts to the Milwaukee Bucks (23-30) on Friday night. The teams met just over 2 weeks ago. Then, the Bucks got the best of the Pelicans in Milwaukee and took a 141-137 win in overtime. Trey Murphy III led all scorers with 44 points, but it was not enough as the Bucks had 7 scorers finish with double-digits.
The Bucks won 5 of their last 6 games before the All-Star break and are set to get Giannis back in the lineup here against the Pelicans. Not only Giannis, but Myles Turner and Ryan Rollins are likely to be back in action Friday night. While the season has certainly not gone the way the Bucks had hoped, they were able to hold onto Giannis through the trade deadline and now have a chance to make a playoff run in the weak Eastern Conference.
New Orleans has had an abysmal season; however, they were able to steal 2 of their last 3 games before the break. One was against a weak Sacramento team, but the other was against Minnesota who has 34 wins on the season. Trey Murphy has been coming into his own, and Zion seems to be healthy for the moment. While the playoffs may not be possible, this rather young Pelicans team can still grow in the 2nd part of the season.
While Milwaukee was able to overcome the onslaught by Trey Murphy in their last meeting, it may be New Orleans that will need to overcome a big-time scorer with Giannis making his return.

The Bucks being underdogs in this one seems a bit fishy, but they have done well against the spread in that spot lately. We do not expect Murphy to put up anything close to the 44 points he put up in the last meeting. Without that type of performance, we do not believe the Pelicans are going to hang with the Bucks here at home. We will take the points but fully expect the Bucks to win this one outright on the road.
