After a hard fought 3-2 win in game one, the San Diego Padres will be aiming to seal a vital series victory when they face the Milwaukee Brewers at Petco Park on Tuesday evening.
That game one success for the Padres was largely due to a massive two-run seventh innings homer from the in-form Jackson Merrill. Aside from that moment of magic from Merrill, it was an extremely tight contest dominated by pitchers Logan Henderson and Casey Mize.
Following that win, the Padres are now 63-57 for the seaosn and just one game outside of the National League Wild Card places. If they can continue their excellent recent form, they will have every chance of forcing their way into the postseason positions.
The big problem for the Padres is that the Brewers rarely lose back-to-back contests. Despite Monday's loss, Milwaukee still have a five point advantage at the top of the NL Central standings and are in pole position to reach the playoffs for the fourth season on the spin.
