The Milwaukee Brewers (52-37 SU, 48-41 ATS) look to find a solution against the Los Angeles Dodgers (54-35 SU, 44-45 ATS), who have dominated this series in recent years. Milwaukee hasn’t beaten Los Angeles since May 2023, and most of their games haven’t been very close.
And that’s the biggest thing that the Brewers have to figure out, because they’re either going to have to beat Philadelphia or Los Angeles in the playoffs if they intend to get to the World Series. So far, that hasn’t gone well at all for Milwaukee: the NL Central leaders have gone 0-4 against the National League’s two best teams. Losing to the Dodgers is one thing, but the Brewers have also had trouble with the lesser teams in the NL as of late. Prior to arriving in L.A., Milwaukee was just 4-3 against the Rockies and the Cubs, two of the three weakest NL squads.

If Freddy Peralta’s past three starts are for real, the Brewers should be able to get themselves back on track. Peralta has won two of his past three starts and and took a no-decision in a win in the third game. He’s posted an ERA of 1.50 in his past three starts and allowed just seven hits in his past 18 innings of work.
His opponent is James Paxton, who’s coming off one of his worst showings as a professional. The Giants lit Paxton up for nine runs on 12 hits, and Paxton didn’t make it past the fourth inning. But Paxton has mostly performed well this season, and he’s likely to have a bounce-back appearance here. He also might have been struggling because six of his past seven starts have come away from Dodger Stadium. At home this season, he’s posted a 3-0 record and a 2.51 ERA. Given Milwaukee’s multitude of struggles with the Dodgers and the Phillies, Paxton should bounce back and show that the Brewers aren’t on the elite level. Our prediction for Milwaukee vs. Los Angeles is for the Dodgers to win.
